-- Marlene's only line, "The Mistress's Mind" |
Marlene is a major character in the first season of The Look-See. She was the mistress of Jenni's ex-husband, Daniel, and was killed by The Look-See for refusing to let go of her obsession with Daniel.
She is portrayed by Gwen Carole.
Physical Appearance[]
Marlene was a younger adult woman of average height with Caucasian skin, red hair, and hazel eyes.
Characteristics[]
Nothing else is known about Marlene, save for her relationship with Daniel. She appeared to be a jealous person and was not content with being the other woman, showing notable disgust at the thought of Daniel being with Jenni.
Background[]
At some point before the events of "The Poisoned Pen", Marlene began a romantic relationship with a man named Daniel. She later found out that he was already married to another woman, but this did not seem to deter her, or at the very least bother her.
She may have been a fearless or somewhat oblivious woman, as she was not afraid when she heard someone else in her house despite living alone, though she did believe it was Daniel coming inside.

Season 1[]
Note: As the episodes of the first season are released out of chronological order, these events are listed in chronological order so as to prevent confusion.
The Poisoned Pen[]
Marlene's first chronological appearance. She is present at the funeral for the poisoned children out of respect for the dead. She and Daniel share a look as he is trying to comfort his wife.[1]
The Mistress's Mind[]
Marlene returns home one night, presumably from the service for the deceased children, and finds a picture of Jenni and Daniel taped to her mirror. She removes the picture and finds a poem scribbled on the back of it, but this does nothing but annoy her. Marlene takes the photo and rips it in half, crumpling up the half with Jenni in it and throwing it on the ground. She taps the half with Daniel on it back on the mirror, and poses as if she is the one in the picture.
Marlene hears someone else inside her house, but she again is unafraid, believing it to be her boyfriend. She searches her house, and when she gets to her bedroom, where she believes Daniel to be hiding, a pair of clawed hands take hold of the door. Marlene turns around and is startled by The Look-See, who chases her into the bathroom where she locks herself inside.
As the monster is trying to get into the bathroom, Marlene tries to exit through the bathroom window, only to find that it's locked. The door swings open, and she hides in the bathtub, pulling the shower curtain in front of the tub to avoid being seen. She tries to leave the tub when she believes that the monster has left, only to be pulled back inside. When the curtains open once again, Marlene has been decapitated.[2]

Scamp[]
In Camilla's office, there is a picture of her and Marlene together, implying a relationship between the two.[3]
Relationships[]
Daniel[]
Some time before the events of the first season, Marlene and Daniel began to have an affair. Marlene was particularly confident that she could lure Daniel away from Jenni, which proved to be her undoing.
Jenni[]
Marlene held a particular animosity towards Jenni, likely knowing that Daniel would not love Marlene the way he loved his wife. It is unknown if the two of them have ever interacted.

Trivia[]
- Marlene's decapitation could be symbolic of her being in over her head with her seeing a married man, or more likely symbolic of her believing she could woo Daniel away from his wife.
- Marlene has the only spoken line in the entire series -- she hears The Look-See enter her house, and then calls for Daniel.
